Overview The CGA is part of a 501(c)(3) foundation and its primary objective is to raise funds for music education, including public schools that have discontinued their music curriculum due to a lack of funds. Additionally, the CGA will help to ensure that yesterday’s classic gold hits remain popular with today’s youths. At a time when the new generation of recording artists is choosing synthesized technology over creative talent, CGA supporters believe that music enthusiasts must promote the music that is performed by pure vocalists and extraordinary musicians; music from the heart that speaks to the heart and withstands the test of time. The CGA promises to be an entertainment spectacular as music industry personalities are welcoming this new concept with open arms. Music industry representatives, music historians and music journalists will formulate the CGA ballot later this year and release it for public voting. Stay tuned as the entertainment lineup, celebrity appearances and nominees will be announced soon. Also, don’t miss the inaugural CGA ceremony that will be televised nationally in the US and Europe next August. How will the Classic Gold Music Awards be different from other awards programs? While existing music awards programs focus on recently recorded music, the Classic Gold Music Awards will celebrate music from the past 50 years that has withstood the test of time. Each of the past five decades, including the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000-2009 will have the same set of awards categories, i.e.: 1960s Classic Gold Recording R&B/Soul…1960s Classic Gold Recording Pop…1960s Classic Gold Recording Jazz…1960s Classic Gold Recording Gospel/Inspirational…1960s Classic Gold Recording Latino…1960s Classic Gold Recording Country. How will awards recipients be selected? Step I: A “Nominating Committee” comprised of music experts representing a wide variety of print, radio, television and Internet media will vote to select three nominees per category. Step II: Internet, text message and paper voting ballots that include all nominees will be accessible for public voting. The opportunity for public voting will be publicized by an intense marketing campaign. Step III: Voting ballots will be tabulated and results will be certified by a designated committee or accounting firm. What is the target audience for this program? Primary Target—the primary target audience is males and females ages 45 to 65 who collect and/or frequently listen to classic oldies. Secondary Target—the secondary target audience is male and female music enthusiasts ages 34 to 44 who listen to a range of music forms. Tertiary Target—the tertiary target audience is advanced music students, college coeds and young adults who study retro entertainment and music nostalgia. |
